Will the screen size of the future smart phones continue to increase?

The days of small 3 or 4 inch screens are long behind us. Nowadays phones have an average screen size of 5-7 inches. It is most likely that the trend will continue, where phone screens will increase. However, only time will tell.

Why phone screen size and resolution are so important

Screen sizes and resolutions are both very important as they affect layouts of apps. The screen size of a phone is the diagonal length across the screen of a phone, and the screen resolution is the number of pixels on the screen. Depending on the ratio of the 2, this will determine how sharp images look on your device.

For example, 2 phones with the same resolution but different screen sizes will mean that images on the phone with the smaller screen will look sharper as the space between the pixels is shorter. On the other hand, when you have phones that have the exact same screen size but different resolutions, obviously the one with the higher resolution will have sharper looking images.
