5 reasons for the "No SIM Card: Emergency Calls Only" error
Imagine suddenly finding a mobile notification that says "no SIM card inserted" or worse yet, "Emergency Calls Only". It definitely looking daunting but to every problem, there is a solution around the corner. Below are some reasons your phone may be experiencing such an issue and how to fix them.
- Reboot
It could be due to the device’s software crashing. First, try to reboot your phone by holding the power button and home button together for at least 10 seconds.
- Reception signal cable replacement
If the signal cable is damaged it could cause this issue. You can solve the problem by replacing this part.
- Restore its setting
If the problem continues after the reboot, it is necessary to restore the device’s settings. Follow these steps:
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings
This is the process to initialising all settings of the device. This means that the settings information stored in the device will be reset to the initial settings. Data such as contacts, photos and apps will remain intact.
- Restore device
The next option is to restore your device to factory settings. There are 2 ways to restoring your device. If your device is still working, please follow the following steps:
Setting > General > Reset > Erase all content and settings. This is the process of restoring your device to factory settings. WARNING – this will erase everything on your phone. Only do this if you have just backed up your phone.
If you want to restore via iTunes, do the following steps:
Connect your device to iTunes.
Turn off your device.
Hold the power button and home button together until you see the iTunes icon.
Now, you can find an iPhone in recovery mode on your computer.
Click to restore (do not disconnect the iPhone before finishing the installation of new firmware)

Another possibility is mainboard damage.
