Why is there no music playing on my device? Here are 6 ways to bring your music back.
Life is boring without music.
Music can easily be considered an important aspect in life as it can emit various emotions. And it definitely is a bummer when you can't hear your favourite tunes on your phone whilst going to work or getting a good workout session at the gym.
So, if you're experiencing no music playing on your mobile device, here are some ways you can do to restore music back on your phone.
-
Reboot
It could happen because the device’s software crashed. First, try to reboot your phone by holding the power button and home button together for at least 10 seconds.
- Ear jack cable replacement
If you can see the headphone’s volume changing when the volume button is pressed even without the headphone being plugged in, the device thinks that you have the headphone plugged in when you do not. This can be solved by replacing the ear jack cable.
- Loudspeaker/dock connector replacement
If you can see the volume/ringer changing when the volume button is pressed but there is still no sound, you can solve the problem by replacing the loudspeaker and front camera cable. The loudspeaker is connected to the mainboard via dock connector.
- Restore its setting
If the sound problem continues after the reboot, follow the steps below:
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings
This is the process to initialising all settings of the device. This means that the settings information stored in the device will be reset to the initial settings. Data such as contacts, photos and apps will remain intact.
- Restore device
The next option is to restore your device to factory settings. There are 2 ways to restoring your device. If your device is still working, please follow the following steps:
Setting > General > Reset > Erase all content and settings. This is the process of restoring your device to factory settings. WARNING – this will erase everything on your phone. Only do this if you have just backed up your phone.

- Mainboard damage
Another possibility is mainboard damage.

A: The mainboard (motherboard) is the core part of the hardware and controls all functions of the phone. Every part of the phone with a function is connected to this mainboard.
Q: How can the mainboard gets damaged?
A: The mainboard can get damaged from shocks (drops), dropping into water or even from pressure. It can also be caused by charging with a poor quality charger/cable. Damage to the mainboard can arise even if there is no physical damage.
Q: What happens when the mainboard is damaged?
A: As the mainboard is the core part of the device, once it’s damaged, it can make functions play up. The functions affected depend on the location of the damage.
