5 Reasons why you may be experiencing no sound on your speaker phone.

Having no sound playing on your speaker phone may be one of the most common issues a phone may have. And it is definitely not a fun problem to have. Here are 5 reasons why your phone may have no sound playing out your speakers.
  1. Phone's software crashed.

It could happen because the device’s software crashed. First, try to reboot your phone by holding the power button and home button together for at least 10 seconds.

  1. Dust trapped in phone's microphone.

The microphone may not be working properly due to the dust or dirt in the microphone’s hole. Remove dust/dirt if you can see something in there.

  1. Ear jack cable issues.

If you can see the headphone’s volume changing when the volume button is pressed even without the headphone being plugged in, the device thinks that you have the headphone plugged in when you do not. This can be solved by replacing the ear jack cable.

  1. Microphone cable issues. Upper side microphone cable replacement

Another reason why your phone's speakers may not be playing any sound might be because the upper side of your phone's microphone is damaged. This might sound daunting, hearing a component of your phone is broken, but you can easily solve it by replacing the front camera connector cable at one of our stores. Book a repair service here

  1. Interrupted restoration

If the sound problem continues after the reboot, it might be because the restoration was interrupted. You can restore it again by following the steps below:

Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings

This is the process initialising all settings of the device, which means that all settings information will be reset to the original. However, important data such as contacts, photos and apps will remain intact.

What if the above still doesn't bring my sound back?

If you tried all the things above and your sound is still not yet restored, you can try..

Restoring your device.

The next option is to restore your device to factory settings. There are 2 ways to restoring your device. If your device is still working, please follow the following steps:

Setting > General > Reset > Erase all content and settings. This is the process of restoring your device to factory settings. WARNING – this will erase everything on your phone. Only do this if you have just backed up your phone.

If you want to restore via iTunes, do the following steps:

Connect your device to iTunes.

Turn off your device.

Hold the power button and home button together until you see the iTunes icon.

Now, you can find an iPhone in recovery mode on your computer.

Click to restore (do not disconnect the iPhone before finishing the installation of new firmware)

Replacing your mainboard

Another possibility for sound issues are mainboard damages

Q: What is the mainboard?

A: The mainboard (motherboard) is the core part of the hardware and controls all functions of the phone. Every part of the phone with a function is connected to this mainboard.

Q: How can the mainboard gets damaged?

A: The mainboard can get damaged from shocks (drops), dropping into water or even from pressure. It can also be caused by charging with a poor quality charger/cable. Damage to the mainboard can arise even if there is no physical damage.

Q: What happens when the mainboard is damaged?

A: As the mainboard is the core part of the device, once it’s damaged, it can make functions play up. The functions affected depend on the location of the damage.

Q: How do I know if the sound problem is caused by damage to the parts (ear jack cable or upper side microphone cable) or mainboard damage?

A: There is no way to physically find out if the mainboard got damaged or not unless you test the device with a new part and see if it is working or not. With this matter, we can help you through a quick inspection and can tell you if it will be solved by replacing the part or not.

Q: What should I do if it is a mainboard damage?

A: If it’s a mainboard issue, don’t worry. We can fix this issue at Happytel. Most sound problems arising from the mainboard can be repaired by micro soldering in our Happytel Head office.
