What do I do if my phone won't turn on?

Has your phone stopped turning on, even though you just got it charged?

After paying a considerable amount for tiny device, it can be a little stressful to find it not turning on and have it break-down when it's no longer under the warranty period.

It may be tempting to declare your phone dead and run to your nearest tech store to get a new phone, but it may be best to wait a little before you start panic-buying. So, here are 4 things you can do to see if your iPhone or Android can wake up from it's slumber.

  1. Reboot

This could happen because the device’s software crashed. First, try to reboot your phone by holding the power button and home button together for at least 10 seconds.

  1. Charging connector replacement

It could be due to a charging problem. If the reboot does not solve the problem, the issue can be solved by replacing the charging connector at Happytel.

  1. Battery replacement

Lastly, if the reboot and the replacement of the charging connector does not solve your problem, the issue could be the battery. Replace your battery at one of our Happytel stores.

  1. Mainboard damage

Another possibility is mainboard damage.

Q: What is the mainboard?

A: The mainboard (motherboard) is the core part of the hardware and controls all functions of the phone. Every part of the phone with a function is connected to this mainboard.

Q: How can the mainboard gets damaged?

A: The mainboard can get damaged from shocks (drops), dropping into water or even from pressure. It can also be caused by charging with a poor quality charger/cable. Damage to the mainboard can arise even if there is no physical damage.

Q: What happens when the mainboard is damaged?

A: As the mainboard is the core part of the device, once it’s damaged, it can make functions play up. The functions affected depend on the location of the damage.

Q: How do I know if the phone is not turning on due to the parts (battery or charging connector) or mainboard damage?

A: There is no way to physically find out if the mainboard got damaged or not unless you test the device with a new part and see if it is working properly with the new part or not. With this matter, we can help you through a quick inspection and can tell you if it will be solved by replacing the parts or not.

Q: What should I do if it is a mainboard damage?

A: If it’s a mainboard issue, don’t worry. We can fix this issue at Happytel. Most problems of the phone not turning on related to the mainboard arise from the mainboard’s power charging system or its shorted capacitors. Our success rate for this procedure is 85%.
